How to connect: eduroam
Instructions for eduroam
See below for brief textual instructions for the Windows XP operating system for connecting to the eduroam network. To get more graphic pictorial instructions, click here. The wireless profile set-up is similar in other operating systems, as well.
- Open the "Control Panel" (Start - Control Panel)
- In Control Panel, click on "Network Connections
- Right-click on the wireless card and choose "Properties"
- Click on the "Wireless Networks" tab and choose "Add"
- In the item "SSID Network name" write: eduroam; network authentication: WPA, data encryption: TKIP
- Then click on the tab "Authentication"; as the EAP protocol type, choose PEAP Protocol and click on "Properties"
- There, check off "Authenticate server certificate" and choose our "PDC" root certificates. As the authentication method, choose "Secured password (EAP-MSCHAPv2) and click "Configure"
- There CHECK OFF "Automatically use log-in name, password and the Windows system"
- Click OK, and close any open windows.
Now you can connect to the wireless network, turn on the wireless card on your device and update your network list. If a network is available within range, you will be connected automatically or you can connect by clicking on the connect button.
- A "bubble" will appear during the connection attempt. Click on it
- Fill in the user name in the following format username@realm and as the password use the password you are currently using
After a while, the authentication will be completed and the network address loaded; if everything is in order, you should see the status "connected" in the eduroam network status.
